The monastery of St. Ottilia, Grimmenstein



the Capuchin Monastery of St. Ottilia Grimmenstein lies in a depression on the northeastern slopes of the hilly country Appenzeller, 250 m above St.Margrethen at the northeast corner of Switzerland. It is an enclave in the territory of Innerrhoder Ausserrhoden community Walzenhausen.
The associated farm, including servants and Beichtigerhaus is Ausserrhoden territory. On top of the slope basin, which lies in the monastery, the road runs, which crosses the whole slope terrace of Walzenhausen and takes the four to Talverbindungen Berneck, Au, St.Margrethen and Rheineck Valley. It bifurcates to the southwest in the after Bergverbidungen Laugh and Oberegg Wolfhalden-pagans. From it one can enjoy at some point a magnificent view of the Rhine Delta, Lake Constance and the Swabian adjacent shore.
The monastery, below the road junction to St.Margrethen is of the valley from the mountain to reach many beautiful hiking trails. The bus St.Margrethen-Heiden holds near the monastery in the hare well. From the station of Rheineck-Walzenhausen train you reach the monastery on level pavement in a half hour walk, or take the bus.
